Two points of note
1.  I got to use the camera in my Blackberry operationally to take a photo of what happens to my neighbors trash when she doesn't use a trash can and the crows throw a party.

2.  When I got home today I was greeted by a case of bottled Dublin Dr. Pepper.  I have two cases of cans on the way.  I was good and only had two bottles (they're only 8 oz.) this evening.  I expect an average of one or less per day going forward since they are a special treat.

2. Isn't it great stuff? It's nice having it local and even available in certain restaurants as a fountain drink.

I'm envious. Shipping for the three cases was $40+ dollars.

Just shipping was that much?

Actually, shipping was $50

I don't know how well this will line up, but I bought one case of bottles ($16 per case) and two cases of cans ($10 per case). Shipping more than product and packaging combined.

Quantity Item Unit Price Unit Total
1 Dublin Dr Pepper - 8 oz bottles $16.00 $16.00
2 Dublin Dr Pepper - 12 oz cans $10.00 $20.00
Subtotal: $36.00
Packaging: $10.00
Shipping: $49.95
Tax: $0.00
Total: $95.95

Was it packed in padded silk or something?

You would think. The case for the bottles had each bottle partitioned off and also included folded 6-pack carriers. No bottles were damaged in shipping.

That was UPS ground, BTW. It would have gone well over $100 for overnight shipping.

Now you see why I said I'll be having these as a special treat.

If you average it out over 72 units (24 bottles, 48 cans) the final price is $1.33 each.

For the bottles it averages around $0.92 each in a six pack unless you get it on sale, so I'm not going to complain about how much they are anymore.

I'll just crack one open and toast towards VA while I say "This is for you, Dan" and snicker, a lot.

You do that. If I broke it down further, bottles are probably close to $1.50 and the cans less.

On the downside, you have to live in Texas, so I consider the tradeoff acceptable.

Not for much longer if I can help it.

And hey, what's wrong with Texas?

I've never even been to Texas so I can't really critique it. I'm just talking smack.

It was funny, I'll grant you that.

You could have made something up though, we were on a roll.

I could have, but it's after midnight and I have to be up in less than six hours so I'm going to bed. You'll have to roll without me.

What exactly is Dublin Dr. Pepper? I'm imaging Dr. Pepper laced with Guiness, and that doesn't sound all that good.

Dr. Pepper made from the original recipe with cane sugar and no HFCS. Bottled in Dublin, Texas.

Hmm. Jared and I will be in Austin in late August. I'll have to see if the Dublin stuff makes it that far south.

Are you flying down?
It's only a 3 hour drive to Dublin.

Aye, but we're going to be driving southeast towards the Gulf of Mexico. Not sure what sort of time we'll have after that. I'll certainly keep it in mind, though, in case we have extra time.
