Stand Your Ground?
Why are so many pundits talking like the Taylor murder in Florida is related to SYG? Zimmerman followed the kid in an obvious way, even after advised not to by the police dispatcher, confronted him demanding to know his name and address, something else happened, and the kid was dead.
SYG means what it says. It doesn't mean a person cans chase someone, start a confrontation, then claim SYG. The earlier actions negate the claim.
Maybe if my end game was a British model where all self-defense is more illegal than attacking someone, I might be able to understand. As it is, I'm confused.

YOu're right: criticism of SYG has the end goal of ending self-defense.

What Zimmerman did is no more than 'stand your ground' than a Mafia hit.
