Looking to the federal government as a source of whistleblower protection seems almost quaint considering that the present administration has already prosecuted more (of its own) whistleblowers than the last couple administrations combined.

The first couple months of ATF's response to Fast & Furious was to cover it up while hunting down and punishing any field agent believed to have gone outside the agency, while promoting all involved supervisors. The new acting director just released an internal video promising "consequences" to anyone who complains outside the chain of command.
