That explains it
For some reason, hellon2wheels made several Windows XP references in the last 48 hours. Turns out she thought I was still using it. I may be living proof that "The cobbler's children have no shoes" applies to IT folks, but I'm not that far gone, dammit.

What's wrong with XP?

OK, my Laptop runs Windows 7, but my desktop was an XP machine. Everything works together. The new WIndows 8 machine barely plays well with itself.

Lots of little things are wrong with XP compared to more modern OSs. One of the more obvious problems is how long it takes to confirm the existence of every single patch ever offered during logon. That was really getting ridiculous by the time my organization finally moved to Windows 7.

Still using it on 2 machines. One will get an update to 7. I fucking hate 8 and want to raze it to the ground on laptop.

Did the upgrade to 8.1 make things any better? I have Windows 7 at work and home, so I don't know much about 8.

My laptop is at 8.1 and as far as I'm concerned, the answer is no.
