Props to Otterbox
My personal cell phone is a Blackberry Q10 (don’t judge), which I carry in an Otterbox Defender case & holster. Yesterday, I broke one of the clips on the holster under unusual circumstances*.
I called Otterbox to see if I could buy a replacement holster, but was told they stopped making them for my phone a year ago, and don’t even have any parts left. I don’t fault them for this since the Q10 is no longer manufactured or sold by any major carrier.
Otterbox wanted to provide a warranty replacement that I hadn’t even asked for, so they asked if there were any other devices I needed a Defender & holster for. I said I was planning to get an iPhone 6s at some point, so they are sending me my color choice for that. I paid $2.99 for shipping, period.
It seems I am another step closer to getting an iPhone.

*If anyone is that interested, I was attending a graduation ceremony at the Patriot Center and stood for the national anthem** with my phone in my hand. The clip snagged on the seat’s armrest.
**Why is it impossible for anyone to just sing the anthem as arranged? I blame Whitney Houston for doing it well and inspiring thousands to do it poorly.

A NEW ERA

That's impressive customer service by Otterbox.

ps: I agree about the National Anthem.

I had come to accept that I would have to convert eventually. I had hopes for the latest model the Priv, but it runs a Blackberry-flavored Android and I need security updates. Also, the CEO is a statist swine who talked smack about Apple wanting encryption they couldn't break themselves.
I wish there were other choices, but based on my priorities there can be only one.

Otterbox insisted on replacing my case and holster under warranty even though I have no documentation and was trying to *buy* a holster. I'm willing to take Yes for an answer. In the meantime, Penny also has a Q10 and defender and rarely uses her holster. I'm borrowing it until the $5 leather case I ordered shows up. We're planning to upgrade our phones at the same time.

Both my Galaxy 5s and Kindle are safely wrapped in Otterboxen. I won't use anything else.

I wanted to believe, but it isn't available for Verizon, which Penny wants to stay with for business reasons.
It runs a Blackberry flavored form of Android, which may never get patches or upgrades in its lifetime.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I still do not have an iPhone. I am the only one in my circle of friends, co-workers, acquaintances that does not have a smartphone. I'm living off the grid. :-)
