Unusual sightings
A couple days ago I saw at least one, possibly two, pilated woodpeckers while walking the dogs. First I saw a flash of a large, black and white wing through the trees. A couple minutes later I got a clear view of it in flight and then perched on a tree. I couldn't tell if it was the same one or not.

This morning I saw my first Spyder in the wild, as it were. The guy was actually commuting on it, either heading for Columbia Pike or 395 South. How cool is that? I'd love to try one, but the controls are different enough from a conventional motorcycle that it would mess me up.

I saw a yellow one of those the other day in Herndon - totally cool. I was wondering what it was.

I just spent a very enjoyable 5 minutes at the website. That's the coolest thing ever. I just don't think the sitting position would be too comfortable on longer trips.

The position is similar to a lot of motorcycles, but I think I'd tend to use it closer to home myself.

I'm estimating one would be in the high teens out the door (call it $20K with add-ons). Maybe some day.
