Despite the fact that it was frickin freezing on Tuesday, I put on lots of cold weather gear and rode that little loaner to work at 0700. That wasn't too bad. The real problem was the ride down to Fredericksburg at 1500 which despite relatively light traffic still took about an hour. I didn't get too cold with all the gear, but it was hard to maintain that position, especially with the collar of my vest forcing my helmet forward. It wasn't too cold for my gear, but it was very windy--enough so that I could feel the gusts pushing me back then letting me drop forward even at 80 mph. I was very happy to give it back. I appreciate the service loaner, but if they won't let me take something different next time I'm getting a rental car instead.
Hiking socks, BMW Santiago boots, Dockers and boxer briefs, Carhartt insulated bib overalls, t-shirt and oxford, windstopper fleece vest with fuzzy collar, leather Harley Davidson branded leather jacket with liner, North Face windstopper waterproof gloves, Arai full face helmet. With everything on I look like a waist gunner on a B-17 over Europe.
