I belong to a small credit union that I joined years ago when I worked in a building that contained a branch. Now, the nearest branch is 15 miles away but I do almost everything online so it doesn't matter. My CU has a deal with Navy FCU, which is a juggernaut with branches and ATMs all over the place, that allows no-fee cash withdrawals. I take advantage of this a couple times a month.
Today, I went to my local Navy ATM, stuck my card in it, and watched its status immediately go to "Temporarily Out of Service", followed by a five minute reset period. It did not return my card. On Saturday afternoon of a three day weekend. I was able to cancel the card by calling one number, but could not order a new one because the automated system wants a PIN that I do not know. I will call again on Tuesday morning and bang buttons until I get a human. I will probably be in a fairly foul mood by the time I get that to work. In the mean time, I hit my parents up for some cash since they belong to the bank in their building.
On a competely unrelated note, does anyone give a rat's ass about the winter olympics?
