a couple points
Despite eating like I was on vacation, I still lost five pounds due to the op tempo maintained, particularly by our friend Karen during the Washington portion of the trip.

The AC problem was a failed capacitor. It has been replaced and the house is cooling down.

We had a busted capacitor in our AC during the heat wave. Glad you're back, safe, and cooling. :)

That was an early assumption based on limited information. There was an earthquake while I was gone. The unit is only a few years old. All circuit breakers were in position. The unit hummed and generated heat, but the blades wouldn't turn and no cool air was produced. I didn't know it was the capacitor until the techs arrived.
