Now I want a Ural
We just watched Sit Stay Ride. Now I want a Ural Motorcycle. Hmm, they're Russian, but based on a BMW design. I wonder if my BMW mechanic would work on it?

You do know how they became "based" on a BMW design, right? I think the modern term would be "industrial espionage", possibly in time of war. ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/42411907/6125) | From: | daddygod |

Nowhere near as subtle.
When the Soviets retreated from Germany after WWII, they picked up an entire BMW factory and took it with them, tools, dies, machinery, plans, etc. The factory just happened to make motorcycles.
For a while, each Ural came with the MG mount on the sidecar just because it was on the original plans, so they added them to everything.
I believe I saw a pintle mount on the accessories page. ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/42411907/6125) | From: | daddygod |

Yep, you can still get them, and IIRC one model still comes stock with one, but they came standard on every model back a decade or so. |
